１０月３日（水）に、レッドランズカレッジ歓迎式典を行いました。
レッドランズカレッジはオーストラリアのブリスベンにある姉妹校で、本校のオーストラリア修学旅行で毎年訪問しています。また、レッドランズカレッジからは２年に１度、高校生が日本を訪れ、本校児童生徒宅でホームステイをします。今回は、小学６年生有志の家庭で、留学生を受け入れていただきました。
今日は講堂で歓迎式典を行い、レッドランズカレッジのアンドリュージョンソン校長先生、２名の先生方、１４名の留学生をお迎えしました。入場の際、本校児童会から折り鶴のレイをプレゼントしました。
歓迎式典では、両校校長先生からそれぞれ挨拶があり、記念品を交換しました。
その後、引率の先生方および留学生の方々が自己紹介を行い、続いて本校児童生徒を代表して児童会長が歓迎の言葉を述べました。
最後に、歓迎の意を込めて、本校４～６年生の児童が大きな声でカントリーロードを英語で合唱しました。
式典後、６年生児童が校舎を案内、さらに５年生と交流をするなど、留学生には盛り沢山とも言える１日を過ごしていただきました。
レッドランズカレッジの留学生は１０月６日まで本校に滞在し、本校児童との交流や大阪市内観光を行う予定です。

レッドランズカレッジの皆様、智辯学園奈良カレッジへようこそお越しくださいました。心より歓迎申し上げます。
皆さんの学校とのおつきあいは2009年３月に小学部の１期生２８名が訪問させていただいたときから始まりました。それ以来毎年欠かすことなく、本校小学部６年生が訪問させていただいております。
訪問する度に、皆さんが温かく迎えてくださり、毎回心温まる交流ができることに心から感謝しています。本当にありがとうございます。
今回は、１３名の生徒と２名の教員、そして校長先生までもがお越しくださいました。皆様をお迎えすることができたことは、本校にとりましても大変大きな誉れであり、喜びでもあります。今後とも両校の交流がより深く、有意義なものになるよう心から願っています。
さて、皆さんは日本に来られてからいろいろな日本の姿をご覧になったことと思います。日本の印象はいかがでしたか？
私たちの学校では、人との出会いに感謝し、そこで生まれた絆を大切にしています。新しい出会いは視野を広げ、自身を成長させてくれます。
皆さんと過ごす時間は１週間足らずと、短い滞在ですが、智辯学園奈良カレッジの児童や教職員、ホストファミリーの皆さんとの出会いを大切にして下さい。そして、いろいろと交流する中で、出会いがもたらす素敵な実りを楽しんで下さい。
今回の来日で、互いの文化を学び合い、姉妹校である２校間の友情がさらに深まり、この小さな国際親善が、日豪両国の相互理解の礎となってくれることを希望しています。そして何より両国の若者が世界平和実現に向けて共に歩んでくれることを期待して、歓迎の挨拶といたします。

To Mr Fujita, Staff and Students from Chiben Gakuen Nara College, it gives us great joy to be here with you today. You are highly valued friends of the Redlands College community. There is something very special about friendships that cross the boundaries of international borders and continue for many years, and we recognise and thank you for this friendship today.
Our friendship started in 2009, when the first group of graduating Grade Six students from Chiben Gakuen, visited Redlands College. We have had the pleasure of your continued visits each year. Although you are at our school for only a short time, we share a meal, chat and teach each other something unique about our respective cultures. Students from both schools have a great time and make new friends.
This week,as we spend time together, and extend hospitality to each other, no longer do we see each other as strangers, but rather we draw together as treasured friends.This provides opportunities for our students to grow and mature that they would not otherwise have, and contributes to global understanding and partnerships.
Our students have been looking forward to visiting with you. They love to learn about Japanese language, culture and history, eating new foods and participating in new experiences. Most of all, they have been looking forward to just chatting with other students and making new friends. 0ur students at Redlands College start to learn Japanese from Grade Six. Therefore, these students who have come to visit today have been learning for about five years. However, this is the first time many of them have visited Japan and the first time they have been to a Japanese school, so I’m sure there are many things we are not used to, but we’ll try our hardest.
This group left Australia on 24th September and has been sightseeing to Tokyo, Takayama, Kyoto and Hiroshima. We have thirteen students in our group and two staff – Mrs Fukushige and Mr Crowther. We are looking forward to spending the week with you in your school so please don’t hesitate to say hello when you see us around this week.
In conclusion, thank you for hosting our visit. We pray that you enjoy the peacefulness that comes from giving and receiving hospitarity when we are along way from home. May God bless you. We would like to present a small gift to Mr Fujita as a token of our appreciation.
